Stefanie Schäfer has been working for the Irmgard Coninx Foundation since June 2009.
Ms. Schäfer received an M.A. in Japanese Studies, Comparative Literature, and Empirical Cultural Studies from the Eberhard-Karls-University Tübingen. For several years, she lived and studied in Japan as well as in the USA, where she began her PhD studies in the Department of History at Cornell University. In addition, Ms. Schäfer has worked as a German language and intercultural communications trainer, and as a program assistant in the Science and Research Department of the Robert Bosch Foundation.
Currently, Ms. Schäfer is doctoral candidate at the Free University Berlin where she is writing her thesis on “The History of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, 1945-1995: The Creation and Transformation of a lieu de mémoire in Socio-Political Perspective” (working title).
